This dress by M.A.B.E. is so easy to toss on and go, and the hand-embroidered details, particularly around the pretty pockets, make it extra special. I wore this stack last year in Atlanta, Georgia, and it’s been sitting in my backlog, begging to be shared. Gardens , New York City · May 8, 2024 A Day at New York Botanical Garden Since moving to the East Coast three years ago, we’ve visited the New York Botanical Garden half a dozen times. It’s free with our AHS memberships and beautiful any time of year. They offer a wide range of educational programs for all ages. It’s a great place to walk or run, and it’s an excellent interlude if you require a break from the concrete streets of the city. Plus, if you time your visit correctly in spring, millions of tulips and daffodils are in bloom, along with flower cherry blossom, plum, and apple trees. It’s breathtaking! Gardens , Style · May 7, 2024 Eyelet Dress and Homegrown Tulips I planted a few hundred tulips last autumn, and deer ate nearly all of them! The ones that managed to survive were some of the prettiest, tallest, and most colorful tulips I’ve ever seen. I picked some after enjoying them outside for a week to make bouquets indoors. It was so satisfying and simple to plant them, and the payoff was incredible. If deer hadn’t gotten to the rest, I would’ve had about 20x what’s pictured here, but I’m grateful that so many survived. I hope to plant another 1,000 or so this autumn in our fenced-in garden plot, so hopefully, next spring, I’ll have even more and can give them to my loved ones. If it could last all year long, I’d be thrilled. Perhaps spring’s ephemeralness is what makes it so special and thrilling. I love strolling through gardens like this one at Mayflower Inn & Spa and exploring what’s in bloom. This cherry blossom tree reminded me of chasing cherry blossoms across Japan, and I’m so thankful to have so many beautiful memories of this time of year spent in splendid places.
